The Chosen Vron Repeats as Champion California-bred Older Horse; Earns Sprinter Title

Arcadia, CA (February 14, 2024) – The Chosen Vron, the son of our much missed Vronsky, was named the 2023 Champion California-bred Older Male for the second consecutive season and Champion Sprinter. He adds this to the 2022 Champion California-bred Older Male and Champion Turf Horse and 2021 Champion California-bred Three-Year-Old Male.

The chestnut gelding had a stellar season, winning six of his seven starts, all added money events, highlighted by his thrilling, come from behind victory in the Grade 1, $403,500 Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar. His other stakes wins included the Don Valpredo California Cup Sprint, Tiznow S., Sensational Star S., and Thor’s Echo S. at Santa Anita and the Cary Grant S. at Del Mar.

Staying in training, he began his 5-year-old season as he had last year, with a victory in the 2024 Don Valpredo California Cup Sprint. He races for a partnership of Sondereker Racing, LLC, Robert Fetkin, Richard Thornburgh, and his trainer, Eric Kruljac. His career totals sit at 15 wins, 1 second and 2 thirds in 20 starts. He has earned $1,239,678, currently second on the active leading California-bred earners, behind only Slow Down Andy.
