Tamarando Filly Romps to MSW Victory at Golden Gate
Albany, CA (January 9, 2022) – Tamarando filly Momma Mocca outclassed the competition to earn her maiden special weight diploma by more than seven lengths in the 3rd race at Golden Gate Fields going one mile over the all weather surface.
Breaking with the field from post five, she was the outside of three around the first turn. She settled just off the pace, rating kindly for jockey Frank Alvarado down the backstretch and into the final turn. Midway around the turn, Alvarado asked her to pick up the leaders and she did. In front at the top of the stretch, she drew away to win as much the best.
Momma Mocca was bred by David McGlothlin, a name very familiar to our Harris Farms family and to the California Thoroughbred industry. She is out of the multiple stakes-producing Olé mare, Chi Chi Nette. Trained by Jonathan Wong, she races for Cheryl Doyle, Reina E. Gonzalez, Matthew Gutierrez, Mark A. Hanna, Maria Hanna, Ralph Martin and Jordan Smith.
