Smiling Tiger’s Grand Slam Smile Champion Cal-bred Two-Year-Old Female

Arcadia, CA (February 14, 2024) – Grand Slam Smile, the daughter of Smiling Tiger, was named the 2023 Champion California-bred Two-Year-Old Female.

Owned and bred by Larry and Marianne Williams, Grand Slam Smile broke her maiden at first asking going four and one-half furlongs at Golden Gate Fields over the all-weather. Next out, she earned her first stakes victory in the Fasig-Tipton Debutante Stakes over the main track at Santa Anita. After a runner-up finish in the California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Stakes at Del Mar, she captured the Golden State Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Santa Anita. Her championship campaign ended with a second place finish in the Golden Gate Debutante Stakes.

She was never worse than second in five starts and she earned $219,900. She kicked off her 2024 season with a victory in the Leigh Ann Howard California Cup Oaks, adding another $110,000 to her bankroll. She is the third stakes winner and fifth black-type earner out of the Grand Slam mare, Royal Grand Slam.
