Om Adds Three New Maiden Breaking 3-Year-Olds
Arcadia, CA (May 3, 2025) – Om’s 3-year-olds continue to fire as Maria Tallchief and Goin’ South both earned their maiden diplomas on Derby Day.
Maria Tallchief overcame hitting the gate at the start to win the 2nd race at Santa Anita going six and one-half furlongs by three-quarters of a length. The chestnut filly is a homebred racing for Nick Alexander and she is trained by Phil D’Amato. She is out of the winning Tizbud mare, Thalia.
Goin’ South earned his visit to the winner’s circle after gamely running down the pacesetter to score by a neck in the 3rd race at Emerald Downs going five furlongs. From the Awesome Again mare, Clever Bird, he was bred by Bret Christopherson. He races for John Maryanski, Janene Maryanski, Gerald E. Schneider, and Gail Schneider. the dark bay gelding is trained by Blaine Wright.
UPDATE (May 4, 2025): El Ondeado became the fifth 3-year-old by Om to break his maiden in the last ten days when he won the 7th race at Santa Anita going six furlong by a length and one-quarter. Produced by the Alymagic mare, Sing and Tell, he was bred by Michael Conway. He races for Tricar Stables, Inc. and he is trained by Jorge Periban.
