Unzip Me Lord Debuts a Winner

Cypress, CA (June 30, 2024) – Unzip Me Lord, made his long and anxiously awaited debut a winning one today as the son of Lord Nelson out of California Champion Unzip Me held sway in the 4th race at Los Alamitos, a six and one-half furlong maiden special weight.

The chestnut gelding took one stride out of the gate and was promptly welcomed to racing with a good solid bump. Jockey Geovanni Franco moved him a few paths outside of the pack down the backstretch as he settled into stride. He asked him to close around the turn and they circled the field and were even with the leaders at the top of the stretch. He dilly-dallied inside the final furlong until the eventual runner-up came into eyeshot. Unzip Me Lord rebroke and won more easily than the half-length margin would indicate.

Unzip Me Lord was bred by Harris Farms Inc., Donald Valpredo and Martin Jones. He races for the partnership of Alysam Racing and Harris Farms Inc., and he is trained by Carla Gaines.
