Stanford’s Flame McGoon Wins Molly P Overnight Stakes

Phoeniz, AZ (February 13, 2025) – Flame McGoon, the 6-year-old son of Stanford, made his third straight visit to the winner’s circle and remained undefeated in 2025 with his victory in the Molly P Overnight Stakes at Turf Paradise.

A full field of ten lined up for the seven and one-half furlong turf contest. Flame McGoon was two and one-half lengths off the lead in the early going. There was plenty of traffic in front and he had to take the overland route at the top of the stretch. He swept pass all but one and he caught that competitor at the wire to win by a nose.

Flame McGoon races for Rick Wiest, Lana Wiest, Clayton Wiest and Todd Fitch and he is trained by Robertino Diodoro. Produced by the More Than Ready mare, Lula Tallulah, he was bred by Branch Thoroughbreds.

Stanford currently sits #2 on the 2025 California Leading Sire List by Number of Winners with 14 and #3 by Progeny Earnings.
