Stanford Filly Wins Santa Anita Card Opener

Arcadia, CA (December 27, 2024) – Stanford filly Long Mayshe Reign took her lifetime earnings over the $100,000 mark with her victory in the opener on the second card of the season at Santa Anita, an optional $50,000 claiming race going six furlongs over the turf course.

Coming off a close second last out in similar company at Del Mar, today she would not be denied. She was away from the gate first from the outside post and she never was headed. Given a bit of a breather around the turn, jockey Ricardo Gonzales asked for a strong final furlong. She delivered in 11.75 and clocked a final time of 1:09.45, winning by a length.

Long Mayshe Reign was bred by Tanya Rae Freeman and she races for her and Dan Freeman. Trained by Mark Glatt, she is out of the First Defence mare, A Kiss for Maria.
