Om Runners Flying at Santa Anita

Arcadia, CA (April 26, 2025) – Om cropmates Wind Speed and Godavri showed completely different running styles to complete the maiden special weight exacta in the final race of the day at Santa Anita Park on April 26, kicking off a superb weekend for the sire..

The 3-year-old fillies lined-up against nine others in the six furlong dash over the turf course rated good. Wind Speed, who was making her racing debut, was in for an adventure. Breaking a step slowly from the inside post, she found her stride quickly and was moving towards an open spot when one of her competitors jumped the crossover and there were bumper cars for a few strides.

One might think a debutante might back out and say, enough for the day, but not Wind Speed. She and jockey Tyler Baze weaved their way into the clear and the chase was on. She cleared half the field down the backstretch and moved into contention with a circling move around the turn.

Her target was Godavri, who had stalked the pacesetter and took over at the top of the stretch, she opened a clear lead and looked to be earning her diploma in her second start, when Wind Speed blew by in the final strides to win by a half-length.

Wind Speed is a homebred racing for Lawrence T. Jett and Ann L. Jett and she is trained by Sean McCarthy. She is out of the Candy Ride (Arg) mare, Heavenly Candy.

Foaled at Harris Farms, Godavri was bred by the Sareen Family Trust & John Krupski and is out of the Uncle Mo mare, Savera.

On April 30, Jaguar Jon made his debut in the 4th race at Santa Anita for owner/breeder Nick Alexander and the 3-year-old gelding wowed the maiden claiming company, romping home by eight and one-half lengths going six furlongs on the main track. He is out of the Grazen mare, Scathing.

Finishing up Om’s very successful weekend were debut placers, Winning Patriot, the Harris Farms’ homebred who finished second in the 11th race at Santa Anita going a mile over the turf course in maiden special weight company and Dominate, who was second going five furlongs at Emerald Downs.
