Lakerville Son Dominates Del Mar Maiden Special Weight

Del Mar, CA (September 5, 2021) – Big Coupe, the son of Lakerville, took the field wire-to-wire had been knocking on the door and today, he dominated his competition to win the 11th race at Del Mar, a mile and one-sixteenth maiden special weight over the firm turf course.

The runner-up last time out, Big Coupe and jockey Flavien Prat went straight into a duel on the pace. Putting away his early company around the final turn, he was not threatened the rest of the trip and came home with plenty left in the tank by more than four lengths. He finished his romp in 1:43.07.

Big Coupe is a homebred racing for Alfred Pais and he is trained by Leonard Powell. He is out of the winning Creachadoir (IRE) mare, Margot Marchance (GB).
