Harris Homebreds Afternoon Nap Zips to MSW Victory at Santa Anita

Arcadia, CA (October 4, 2024) – Harris homebred Afternoon Nap skipped his midday snooze to make his second start a winning one in the opener on the card at Santa Anita, a maiden special weight going six furlongs over the firm turf course.

Fourth in his debut, the son of Practical Joke drew the rail and he came in some after the break. Jockey Antonio Fresu got him righted and the pair galloped along the inside until coming to the turn. Finding room to move out. Afternoon Nap ranged up and joined the fray at the top of the stretch. A dandy battle ensued and after poking his head in front at the sixteenth pole, Afternoon Nap never looked back. He opened up in those final strides to win by a length and three-quarters. His final time was 1:09.06.
