Claim of Passion Wins Del Mar Allowance

Del Mar, CA (August 9, 2020) – Claim of Passion unleashed a breathtaking turn of foot through the stretch to win the 5th race at Del Mar, a one mile allowance over the fast main track.

The 4-year-old Acclamation gelding was away alertly from the inside post and set up shop just off the leaders in a ground saving ride by Abel Cedillo. He moved off the rail and into the three path coming off the final turn. He swooped past the leaders inside the final furlong and drew away to win by a length and one-quarter.

Claim of Passion was bred by Old English Rancho. He is out of the Vronsky mare, Passionate. He races for the partnership of the Ellwood Johnston Trust, Michelle Thompson and Odes Thompson and he is trained by Phil D’Amato.
