Andtheomofthebrave Salutes at Del Mar

Del Mar, CA (November 16, 2024) – Andtheomeofthebrave, who overcame an eventful debut on October 19 at Santa Anita to finish close third, moved up two spots and into the winner’s circle after the opener on the day at Del Mar in maiden special weight company.

The 3-year-old OM gelding was squeezed at the start and endured traffic issues to miss by a length against older first time out. Today, he was away with gusto from the inside post and dashed to the lead in a matter of strides. Company quickly arrived and a duel ensued down the backstretch and into the turn. Andtheomofthebrave had plenty left, as he began to put away his rivals midway round. Clear at the top of the stretch, he tossed in a final furlong of certainty in 11.64 to win by two and one-quarter lengths. He finished the five grassy furlongs in 57.47.

 

Andtheomofthebrave was bred by Tom Halasz. He races for his owner/trainer Steve Knapp, who also trained his dam, the winning Square Eddie mare, Operandi.
