Zip Om Dashes to Debut Victory at Del Mar

Del Mar, CA (August 8, 2024) – Zip Om, the son of multiples graded stakes winners Om and Unzip Me did his pedigree proud with an eye-catching debut victory sprinting over the lawn at Del Mar.

Nine runners lined-up for the five furlong maiden special weight dash with Zip Om in post eight. His inexperience cost him a step with an inward move at the break. Jockey Antonio Fresu got him corrected quickly and the pair settled in third down the backstretch. He moved to challenge midway around the turn and was looking the leader in the eye at the top of the stretch. Asked for another gear, Zip Om upshifted, finished with an 11.53 final furlong and a commanding three and one-quarter length victory.

The 3-year-old gelding races for Alysam Racing and Harris Farms, Inc. and he is trained by Carla Gaines. He was bred and raised at Harris Farms for the partnership of the farm, Don Valpredo and Martin Jones.
