Stanford’s Book Smart Undefeated at Del Mar

Stanford son Book Smart remained undefeated at Del Mar, scoring a frontrunning victory in the 4th race, a five furlong dash over the firm turf course for allowance company.

Given his head at the break by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, he cleared the field of seven other runners chasing the winner’s check of $63,960 early and was never headed. A late challenge came inside the sixteenth pole, but he had plenty left to earn the win by a neck.

Taking his earning to $316,145, four of his seven wins have come at Del Mar. Bred by Grasshopper Racing Stable, Inc., Jack Fabulich and Jill Fabulich, Trained by Bob Hess, Jr., he races for Eduardo Bernal, Larry S. Buckendorf, Charlotte A. Bullard, Tyler Harringer, and Jeffrey Lambert.
