Smiling Tiger Filly Tops NorCal Sale

PLEASANTON, Calif. (Aug. 15, 2017) – A filly by leading California first-crop stallion Smiling Tiger brought a sale-topping $70,000 and a Lucky Pulpit colt from the same family sold for $50,000 at Tuesday’s 2017 Northern California Yearling and Horses of Racing Age Sale at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

The high-bid yearling hip 47 a bay Filly Smiling Tiger out of Mulberry Lane by Cee’s Tizzy. She was bred and consigned by Harris Farms.

The second-highest priced sale hip 115  was also bred and consigned by Harris Farms. That son of Lucky Pulpit, sire of champion California Chrome, is out of the stakes-winning Talkin Man mare Aspen Gal, who also is the second dam of the sale-topper. Both yearlings were purchased by Del Secco DCS, Inc., of Hayward.

The top consignor by gross sales was Harris Farms, with eight horses sold for $149,900.
