Quick Omen Triumphs in Turf Debut

Arcadia, CA (October 12, 2024) – A surface change can make all the difference in a horse’s career. After finishing third in two of her first three races, all on the dirt, trainer Debbie Winick thought Quick Omen should try something new. Winick, who bred the daughter of Om with Harris Farms, decided to give the surface on which her sire thrived at try. The move was hugely successful as the bay filly responded with a game effort to graduate in maiden special weight company in the opener on the Santa Anita card.

Drawing the rail in the six furlong dash, she showed enough speed to maintain her inside position past the crossover. Setting the pace with another in tow down the backstretch, her run around the far turn was the winning move. She hugged the rail with athletic expertise and opened up at the apex. She was clear at the top of the stretch and held the closers off to win by a half-length.

Quick Omen was produced by the winning Thorn Song mare, Quick Song. She is the third generation of this family produced through the Harris Farms program.
