Maiden Special and New Black-Type Earner for Vronsky

Del Mar, CA (August 1, 2020) – On Mars and Reign of Fire gave Vronsky a solid day at Del Mar. The former earned her maiden special weight victory and the latter became his latest black-type performer.

On Mars came from off the pace to win the 11th race going one mile over the firm turf course. The 3-year-old filly was mid-pack early and came wide with her run into the stretch. Clearly best, romped under a hand ride by Mike Smith, with her final furlong in 11.34, to win by four and one-half lengths.

On Mars was bred in California by the Ed Bernstein and Andrew Molasky and she races for the partnership of Bernstein and Old Bones Racing Stable, LLC. Trained by Phillip D’Amato, she was produced by the winning Clyclotron mare, Elana Mar.

Reign of Fire, earned the first black-type of her young career with a third place finish in the $100,000 California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Stakes going five and one-half furlongs over the fast main track. The 2-year-old filly had earned her maiden special weight win June 13 at Santa Anita.

Reign of Fire was bred by Regan Wright and Rustin Reidhead. She is out of the winning Roar mare, Red Hot Renee. She races for CTR Stables, LLC and she is trained by Luis Mendez.
