Lucky J.H. and Desert Code Sire 2 yo Maiden Special Winners
ALBANY, Calif. (Aug. 30, 2014) – 2013 Northern California Yearling Sale graduates by Harris stallions won a pair of 2-year-old maiden special weight races at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday.
Deb’s Wildcard, a $17,500 purchase from the Stony Creek Farm consignment, won the seventh race for fillies. Lucky Forty Niner, a graduate of the Harris consignment was a $1,700 purchase he won the ninth race open to all 2-year-olds.
Deb’s Wildcard is by Desert Code, out of the Demons Begone mare Deb’s Royal Flush, was bred by Victoria Polzin & Harris Farms, is owned by Robert Jones & Lloyd Mason and is trained by Mason. This was her debut and she ran the 5.5 furlongs in 1:04.26, winning by over 2 lengths and earned $20,280 plus the Cal-bred bonus of $10,000.
Lucky Forty Niner is by Lucky J. H., out of the Forty Niner mare Miner’s Gal, was bred by Harris Farms, is owned by Mary Jo Bright and trained by Wendell McDaniel. This was his second start and he ran the five furlongs in :59.20, winning by one and a quarter lengths earning $20,280 plus the Cal-bred bonus of $10,000.
