Del Mar, CA (August 3, 2024) – On the Whim, the Harris Farms homebred son of Acclamation, making his stakes debut, became his sire’s seventh stakes winner with his victory in the $152,000 California Dreamin’ Stakes going a mile and one-sixteenth over the firm turf course at Del Mar,

The 4-year-old gelding settled in behind the lone pacesetter under the watchful guidance of jockey Abel Cedillo. They moved to challenge at the top of the stretch. Coming two wide, On the Whim caught the leader at the furlong pole, but had to dig deeper to get past his stubborn foe. The final sixteenth made the difference and he drew away nearing the wire to win by a length and one-quarter. His final time was a racy 1:41.44.
