Funny Feline the Cat’s Meow in Santa Anita Allowance
Arcadia, CA (May 28, 2022) – Funny Feline made her first start going down the hillside turf course at Santa Anita and she came away the dominant winner in the opening race on the California Gold Rush card.
The 3-year-old daughter of Smiling Tiger broke her maiden two starts back going six furlongs on the lawn on March 19. Stretched out to a mile in her first go against winners, she finished a credible fourth. Cutting back to six and one-half furlongs was just the right tonic in the $69,500 allowance.
Breaking sharply, she went straight to the front. Her only hiccup came when she lugged out crossing over the main track. She quickly regrouped and galloped home to win more easily than the two and one-quarter margin would indicate.
Funny Feline is a third generation homebred for Edward C. Allred and she is trained by Brian Koriner. She was produced by the Unusual Heat mare, Warmth.
