Feature Races Falling to Catholic Boy Winners

Coalinga, CA (March 28, 2025) – Catholic Boy has three feature race allowance winners over the last two days at three different racetracks.

Lu’s Redemption remained undefeated in 2025 with her victory in the feature race at Finger Lakes, a six furlong allowance over the fast main track. The 4-year-old filly tracked the pacesetters and took over at the top of the stretch. She held the field safe to the wire to win by a length and one-quarter.

Bred in New York by Barry R. Ostrager, she is out of the winning Speightstown mare, Bajan Beach. She races for Clear Star Stable, Mitre Box Stable, and Big Toe Stables, LLC and is trained by Jonathan Buckley . She has now earned $86,438.

Heading south to Louisiana Downs, their feature race was a one mile and seventy yard allowance that was originally scheduled at a mile on the turf. Catholic Boy was a Grade 1 winner on both dirt and turf and his progeny have proven these race day surface switches aren’t problematic. Myra’s Boy proved that in bushels today as he galloped home for fun under jockey Joel Dominguez, by nearly nine lengths.

The 4-year-old gelding has earned $101,778 for owner Daniel Family Farms, LLC. Trained by Al Cates, he was bred in Kentucky by Builders Mart, Inc., and he was produced by the Afleet Alex mare, Fast Alexia.

The third feature winner came on May 28 at Delaware Park when 3-year-old colt Mika decided that Myra’s Boy’s winning marging of nearly nine yesterday needed to be outdone and he did. Taking the lead from the break in the 7th race, he was never headed over the sloppy mile and seventy yards to collect the winner’s share of the $46,000 purse by nine and one-quarter lengths.

Mika is a homebred racing for Nice Guy Stables and he is trained by Brittany Russell. Another from the evolving Catholic Boy/Speightstown cross, he is out of the that stallion’s winning daughter, History Supreme.
