Deb’s Wildcard Takes Seattle Handicap

AUBURN, WA (May 31, 2015)-Deb’s Wildcard scored a hard fought victory in the Seattle Handicap at Emerald Downs taking the winners portion of the $50,000 six and a half furlong race by a nose.

Deb’s Wildcard is a three-year-old filly by Desert Code out of Deb’s Royal Flush (Demons Begone) and was winning for the fourth time in nine career starts. Her four wins plus two seconds and two thirds bring her lifetime earnings to $113,924. The filly was bred by Victoria Polzin & Harris Farms and is raced by Robert Jones and Lloyd Mason. She was sold at the Norcal yearling sale for $17,500.

Jockey Ricardo Gonzalez said “I just kept her outside and she handled it perfectly. I didn’t want to get behind horses and she doesn’t like the dirt. We came down the lane, turned for home and she was flying. I didn’t realize Ethan’s Baby was closing so fast. Deb’s Wildcard is a tough filly. As soon as she felt the other horse she kicked right back on. I didn’t see the horse until the last sixteenth of a mile. I saw someone was coming because the crowd was yelling. I looked over on my inside and Ethan’s Baby was coming.”
