California Chrome Tops Breeders’ Cup Pre-Entries

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2016) – California-breds California Chrome and Ambitious Brew, as well as Heatseaker’s Ryans Charm were pre-entered on Wednesday for the 2016 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, to be held next week at Santa Anita.

California Chrome is pre-entered in the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic. He is by Lucky Pulpit, out of the Not For Love mare Love the Chase, was bred by Perry Martin and Steve Coburn, is owned by California Chrome LLC and is trained by Art Sherman. He has 15 wins in 24 starts, record earnings of $13,432,650 and has won his last six races. He was third in this race in 2014.

Ambitious Brew is pre-entered in the $1 million Grade I Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. He is by Tizbud, out of the Forest Wildcat mare Kathwen, was bred by owner Pamela Ziebarth and is trained by Martin Jones. He has seven wins in 20 starts, earnings of $499,225 and is coming off a win in the Grade 3 Sept. 30 Eddie D. Stakes. He was seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint in 2014.

Ryans Charm is pre-entered in the $2 million Grade I Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. She is a Kentucky-bred by California stallion Heatseaker, out of the Lemon Fresh Tide, was bred by Ann Marie Farm, is owned by Nautica and trained by Espinoza Filipizzi. She has 15 wins in 24 starts, earnings of $163,392 and won the June 26 Clasico Pamploma.
