Almost a Factor Wins Santa Anita Feature Race
Arcadia, CA (January 31, 2021) – Harris Farms, Inc. and Gary Parker’s Almost a Factor proved much the best to win the feature race on the Sunday card at Santa Anita, a nine furlong allowance over the turf course that was rated good after recent local rains.
Almost a Factor rated kindly in mid-pack as the field passed the stands for the first time. She settled into a smooth stride and with no urging, moved up to the outside of the second flight down the backstretch. Joel Rosario continued to sit chilly as she sought the lead around the turn. He shook the reins at the top of the stretch and the race was over. She kept to her task with the minimum of coaxing to win in hand by more than two lengths.
Bred in California by Harris Farms, the 4-year-old filly is by The Factor and she was produced by the Tiznow mare, Tizn’t Caught, who comes from one of the prolific SamSon Farms female families. The Carla Gaines trainee has now earned $102,420.
