Tiz Flirtatious Takes Mabee Stakes

Tiz Flirtatious is by Tizbud, out of the Victory Gallop mare Masquerade Belle, was bred by owner Pamela Ziebarth and is trained by Martin Jones.

The co-high weight in the field of five at 121 pounds, Tiz Flirtatious has seven wins in 11 starts, earnings of $624,800 and was coming off a second in the May 27 Gamely.

“Such acceleration; wonderful. She reminds me of two other horses I rode that could kick like that (multiple-stakes winners) Gorella and Forever Together. She was so relaxed today; going so easy. I wasn’t concerned about the (slow) pace. We were in a good spot and I knew she had her kick. Certainly nice to ride one like her” rider Julien Leparoux.

“I didn’t envision the race going that way but it couldn’t have worked out any better. When she relaxes she raises her game to another level and today she was really relaxed and happy. I think she’s getting better.  It has taken some time, but now she relaxes and Julien (Leparoux) has done a great job and understands her and knows how she needs to be ridden. I think a mile and a quarter is our next spot. We’ll look at the Rodeo Drive (at Santa Anita) and then hopefully the Breeders’ Cup”, trainer Marty Jones.

She ran the 1 1/8 miles on turf in 1:51.71 and won by 2-1/4 lengths at odds of 3-5.
