Albany, CA (February 13, 2020) – The tip-off of the NBA All Stars Weekend begins today with their rising stars. Slam Dunk Sermon showed the contemporaries of his sport today that he’s got game with a dazzling maiden score at Golden Gate Fields.
Making his second career start, the 3-year-old Rousing Sermon son was eye-catchingly impressive. Away sharply, Slam Dunk Sermon pressured the pacesetter in the early stages. Putting him away, he did something you rarely see a maiden do going five and one-half furlongs. He opened up on the competition, throwing down a final three-eighths in 17.74 to win by six lengths. His final time was a very racy 1:03.68.
Slam Dunk Sermon is a homebred racing for longtime Harris Farms clients, Mr. & Mrs. Larry D. Williams, who campaigned his multiple stakes-winning sire. Produced by the Grand Slam mare, Royal Grand Slam, he is trained by Steven Specht. He was ridden to victory by Pedro Flores. Earlier in Pedro’s career, he was an exercise rider at Harris Farms.
