On Mars Lands in Santa Anita Winner’s Circle
Arcadia, CA (October 11, 2020) – Vronsky filly On Mars continues to add to her consistent racing resume. She opened the day’s card at Santa Anita winning for the second time in her last three starts in the $57,000 allowance over the firm turf course.
Relishing the nine furlongs, the early part of her trip did not go smoothly. She lost a fair amount of ground while five-wide around the first turn. With little pace in front of her, jockey Mike Smith guided her to the front down the backstretch. The race was over at that point. She opened up her lead around the final turn and was never challenged to the wire. She won more easily than the official three and one-half length margin would indicate.
On Mars races for her breeder, Ed Bernstein, in partnership with Old Bones Racing Stable, LLC. Trained by Phil D’Amato, she was produced by the winning Cyclotron mare, Elana Mar. She has won or placed in seven of her eight career starts and she has earned $115,500.
