Heatseeker’s Ryan’s Charm Repeats in G1
by Paulick Report
With a furious rally on the extreme outside, Stud Nautica’s six-year-old mare Ryan’s Charm (Heatseeker) posted a repeat victory in the G1 Clasico Pamplona to earn an automatic berth into the GI Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf as part of the international Breeders’ Cup Challenge series.
The Pamplona, Peru’s only Group 1 race reserved on the grass for fillies and mares, was the last of five Challenge races contested in South America in 2016 and one of four new races on this year’s Challenge calendar.
Last seen winning the Clasico Mari July in October 2015, Ryan’s Charm returned from an eighth month layoff to record a scintillating victory, her eighth straight and 13th on the grass. Overall she has fifteen wins from twenty-two starts.
“She’s an extraordinary mare,” said trainer Armando Filipuzzi.
“I hope she goes to the Breeders’ Cup because she is a very good mare,” said Breeders’ Cup South American representative John Fulton.
