Harris Homebred Returns a Winner
Arcadia, CA (March 26, 2022) – Coalinga Road showed that patience is rewarded, coming back off an eleven month layoff to win the 4th race at Santa Anita, a five and one-half furlong allowance over the fast main track.
The Harris Farms’ homebred son of Quality Road has been a consistent performer throughout his career. He has finished in the top three in eight of his ten starts and was fourth in the other two outings. Today, he tracked the pace down the backstretch and moved into a position to challenge around the turn. Closing on the far outside, he took the lead inside the final furlong, he fought every stride thereafter to the wire to win by a half-length.
Coalinga Road was produced by the stakes-placed Johannesburg mare, Coco Ecolo. He is trained by Carla Gaines. The victory takes his earnings to $167,180.
